Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal Award Regulations

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to section 8 of the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal ActFootnote a, hereby makes the annexed Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal Award Regulations.

Interpretation

 The definition in this section applies in these Regulations.

Medal

Medal means the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal referred to in section 3 of the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal Act. (médaille)

Qualifications

 A Canadian citizen who has completed a cumulative total of at least 30 days of peacekeeping service, as referred to in subsection 4(1) of the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal Act, since 1948 is qualified to be awarded the Medal.

 Persons of the following classes are excluded from entitlement to a Medal:

  • (a) veterans of the Korean War;

  • (b) veterans of the Gulf and Kuwait War; and

  • (c) veterans of future wars in which Canada participates.

Coming into Force

 These Regulations come into force on the day on which they are registered.
