L-6.2362013411598Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:Short TitleShort titleThis act may be cited as the Language Skills Act.Language SkillsRequirementsAny person appointed to any of the following offices must, at the time of his or her appointment, be able to speak and understand clearly both official languages:the Auditor General of Canada, appointed pursuant to subsection 3(1) of the Auditor General Act;the Chief Electoral Officer, appointed pursuant to subsection 13(1) of the Canada Elections Act;the Commissioner of Official Languages for Canada, appointed pursuant to subsection 49(1) of the Official Languages Act;the Privacy Commissioner, appointed pursuant to subsection 53(1) of the Privacy Act;the Information Commissioner, appointed pursuant to subsection 54(1) of the Access to Information Act;the Senate Ethics Officer, appointed pursuant to section 20.1 of the Parliament of Canada Act;the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner, appointed pursuant to subsection 81(1) of the Parliament of Canada Act;the Commissioner of Lobbying, appointed pursuant to subsection 4.1(1) of the Lobbying Act;the Public Sector Integrity Commissioner, appointed pursuant to subsection 39(1) of the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act;the President of the Public Service Commission, appointed pursuant to subsection 4(5) of the Public Service Employment Act;the Parliamentary Budget Officer, appointed under subsection 79.1(1) of the Parliament of Canada Act.2013, c. 36, s. 2; 2017, c. 20, s. 190
