His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture, pursuant to sections 2 and 3 of the Agricultural Products Marketing Act, is pleased hereby to make the annexed Order granting authority to regulate the marketing of hogs in Quebec.Short Title

1This Order may be cited as the Quebec Hog Marketing Order.

Interpretation

2In this Order,Act means The Farm Products Marketing Act of Quebec; (Loi)Board means the Quebec Agricultural Marketing Board established pursuant to the Act; (Régie)Commodity Board means the Fédération des producteurs de porc du Québec established pursuant to the Act; (Fédération)hog means a hog produced or grown in the Province of Quebec; (porc)Plan means any plan for the marketing of hogs established and amended from time to time pursuant to the Act. (Plan)

Interprovincial and Export Trade

3The Board and the Commodity Board are each authorized to regulate the marketing of hogs in interprovincial and export trade and for such purposes may, by order, with respect to persons and property situated within the Province of Quebec, exercise all or any powers like the powers exercisable by each of them respectively in relation to the marketing of hogs locally within that Province under the Act and the Plan.

Levies

4The Commodity Board is authorized in relation to the powers granted to it by section 3 with respect to the marketing of hogs in interprovincial and export trade to make orders fixing, imposing and collecting levies or charges from persons situated within the Province of Quebec who are engaged in the production or marketing of hogs and for such purpose classifying such persons into groups and fixing the levies or charges payable by the members of different groups in different amounts and the Commodity Board may use such levies or charges for its purposes, including the creation of reserves and the payment of expenses and losses resulting from the sale or disposal of hogs and the equalization or adjustment among the producers of hogs of moneys realized from the sale thereof during such period or periods of time as it may determine.
