Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that it is in the public interest to do so, on the recommendation of the Treasury Board, the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, makes the annexed Certain Fees in Respect of the Issuance of Identity and Travel Documents (Haiti) Remission Order under subsection 23(2.1)Footnote a of the Financial Administration ActFootnote b.

Marginal note:Definition of document

 In this Order, document means any of the following:

 Remission is granted to any person who meets the conditions set out in section 3 of the fees paid or payable set out in any of the following provisions, in respect of a document or the provision of services:

  •  (1) Remission of the fees referred to in paragraphs 2(a) to (d) is granted on condition that

    • (a) at some time during the period beginning on March 1, 2024 and ending on September 1, 2024, the person, as a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada, was in Haiti and was required to travel on an urgent basis as a result of the deteriorating security situation in Haiti; and

    • (b) during the period referred to in (a), the person, or a person acting on their behalf, submitted an application in respect of a document.

  • Marginal note:Foreign nationals

    (2) Remission of the fees referred to in paragraph 2(e) is granted on condition that the application for a document or provision of services was submitted to the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration by a foreign national who is the family member of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and who left Haiti on or after March 1, 2024 and arrived in Canada on or before April 26, 2024.
