Performance (continued)

Where a control console for motor fuel dispensers is used with a register so that a person can preset the quantity of liquid to be delivered, the dispenser shall deliver a quantity of liquid that is not less than the preset quantity and that does not exceed the preset quantity by more than five times the applicable minimum increment of registration set out in section 20.

Where a control console for motor fuel dispensers is used with a register so that a person can preset the money value of the liquid to be delivered, the dispenser shall stop the flow of liquid so that the money value registered at the dispenser is not less than the preset value and does not exceed the preset value by more than an amount, rounded up to the nearest cent, equal to five times the applicable minimum increment of registration set out in section 20.

Installation and Use

Where a metering assembly incorporates a register that is capable of registering flow in only one direction, the assembly shall have a means to prevent a reverse flow of the liquid.

A pulser shall be installed in a metering assembly so that any backlash between the measuring element and the pulser does not exceed the motion required to generate pulses corresponding to the applicable minimum increment of registration set out in section 20.

Where a register is used with a money acceptor, a means shall be provided to print on demand a ticket that shows the information required by section 27, the amount of money tendered and the change due to the customer.

A metering installation shall be provided with automatic means to stop the flow of liquid when the register detects false or missing pulses that represent a quantity of liquid in excess of the amount determined in accordance with section 14.

A metering installation that incorporates a register referred to in section 18 shall be provided with automatic means to prevent the delivery of more than one liquid at a time.
