His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance, pursuant to section 115Footnote a of the Customs TariffFootnote b, makes the annexed Ferry-Boats Remission Order, 2016.

Remission

Marginal note:Ferry-boats

 Remission is granted of the customs duties paid or payable under the Customs Tariff in respect of ferry-boats, classified under subheading No. 8901.10 in the List of Tariff Provisions set out in the schedule to the Customs Tariff, excluding those produced in Canada that have been exported and then subsequently re-imported into Canada.

Marginal note:Conditions

 The remission is granted on the following conditions:

  • (a) the ferry-boat was permanently imported into Canada for the first time on or after October 1, 2015;

  • (b) a claim for remission is made by the importer to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness within two years after the date of importation; and

  • (c) the importer files, on request, all evidence that is required by the Canada Border Services Agency to determine eligibility for remission.

Coming into Force

Marginal note:Registration

  •  (1) This Order, except for sections 3 to 6, comes into force on the day on which it is registered.

  • Marginal note:October 1, 2017

    (2) Sections 3 to 6 come into force on October 1, 2017.
