SCHEDULE 2(Section 7)Test for Breaking Resistance of Splints

  • 1 The following method is to be used for testing the breaking resistance of splints:

    • (a) insert the match in the holding clamp of the apparatus as illustrated in the figure, while ensuring that the moment arm is

      • (i) 2 cm in length, in the case of wood matches; or

      • (ii) 1.5 cm in length, in the case of matches other than wood matches;

    • (b) gradually lower the holding clamp until the match breaks; and

    • (c) record the maximum force registered on the scale required to break the splint.
